Pastor's Notes:
As students begin a new school year, I'm reminded of the similarities they share with a congregation starting a new church year. In order for the students to experience scholastic growth they must have a hunger for knowledge and a teachable attitude. So it is with congregations. Congregants must have a hunger for spiritual growth and a teachable attitude. Consider the church at Berea. They searched the Scriptures daily seeking the truth written in God's Word. "These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they searched the Scriptures daily to find out if those things were true." Acts 17:11 So, my friend, be like the Bereans and have a hunger for God's Word and a teachable attitude. Prayerfully study God's Word daily. As I Pray for students starting a new school year, I also pray for congregants and myself to experience spiritual growth.
